SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP
Our social skills groups meet once a week for 45 minutes
This group is designed for children experiencing difficulty with verbal and non-verbal social communication. Social skills are addressed in a fun, relaxed atmosphere to promote carryover. Skills such as using appropriate eye contact, making friends, maintaining a conversation, sharing, and understanding how their actions can impact those around them in both a positive and negative way will be addressed.
Problem-solving, conflict resolution, bullying, and rules of conversation will be addressed in the Middle School & High School Groups.
*Students will be grouped according to functioning level in addition to grade level.
Curriculum used
“Social thinking” curriculum by Michelle Garcia Winner will be used in addition to other evidence-based practices.
